Ahh, it's so beautiful outside. I really love snow.

Now I have so much to do. I need to clean up daddy's living room, and the kitchen. I need to reshovel the deck and front walk so Cheyenne can get outside safely. I need to find my car and unbury it. I need to figure out how to get out of my driveway and up to the apartment.

SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW!

I'm so excited, I'm just giddy! There is so much beautiful snow! And it's just supposed to keep coming!

We're supposed to go to a wedding today at Lake Land'or, but I do not think that is going to happen. Well, supposedly the wedding is going to happen, but I do not think the going is going to happen.

I'm going to go make hot cocoa and pancakes, knit/crochet, and read a book and watch the beautiful snow!

Cliche Paperwriting Post #I HATE MY LIFE [Dec. 19th, 2009|02:52 am]

marinated_peach
My paper is already 3 hours late.
It will definitely end up being too short.
I didn't delve into the legal mumbo-jumbo as much as I probably should have.

But I am almost fucking done writing this term paper about the Google Book Settlement.
Even though it is winter break and I've been home since 6pm.

Once this snow clears, LET'S HANG OUT, FRIENDS. I miss having friends, friends. So humor me.
I want to go out to eat and see the new Disney movie and laugh A LOT.

P.S. Google is going to take over the world, guys. Seriously. and we're just going to hand over our privacy and free will and thank them for the useful web applications and cheerful graphics and love them for stealing our souls.

I'm taking a bus to DC tomorrow! Unfortunately I've written a grand total of one page of my (ideally) fifteen page paper. So I'll be writing it on the bus and at my house. What fun.
Fuck fuck fuck this semester.

Today was the course reserves Christmas party. It was very fun. I got lots of compliments on my gingerbread whoopie pies and somebody spiked the punch.

I'm trying really really hard not to judge people and to just "ledditgo".... but Alicia's facebook status is "Happy 29 months, baby!" and it makes me want to VOMIT EVERYWHERE. Does she say happy 3 months of marriage? NO, because 3 months doesn't sound impressive and she wants everyone to be jealous of her relationship.

WHO THE HELL COUNTS MONTHS AFTER LIKE, 6? Except High Schoolers, that is? GEEEZ.

Ok, I'm done.

The impending snow storm is STRESSING ME OUT. I have so much to do!

I got hit with something hard. I woke up this morning and was so weary I couldn't move. My head felt like it wieghed a million throbbing pounds. I called out of work and dozed in and out until around 4:30.

I need to clean my apartment. It's awful. And I really need to eat something.

I'm not spoiled for the specifics, but I know that something really, really bad happens in the season finale of Dexter and I can't make myself watch it. I'm, like, legitimately afraid to watch it.

I'm officially done with classes for the semester. Two library shifts, fifteen pages (I have to figure out how to write about the Google Books settlement without going off on a tangent about how they're going to invent Skynet and destroy us all), and five hours on a bus are all that are keeping me from winter break.

Holy Crap.

I'm watching "The Sing-Off."

There's a barbershop quartet of old ladies, and they just did Taylor Swift's "Love Story."

And I SOBBED. I can't believe how beautiful it sounded. It just moved me.

I hate that song when Swift sings it.

I miss chorus.

Make good decisions [Dec. 14th, 2009|11:58 pm]

marinated_peach
Um, so this is the very end of my paper:

As in Captain Planet and the Planeteers, even the most powerful elements on Earth are nothing without Heart. Just when it comes to the Internet and the entertainment industry, those elements are money, demographics, audience strength, and publicity.

The metaphor still works.

Metaphor’d.

It came to me in a fit of panic-induced creativity minutes before I had to email it in to my professor for the midnight deadline. I, uh, can't decide if it was a poor choice or not. I find it hilarious (or, well, I did), and I refrained from poor behavior throughout the rest of the paper, so...yeah.

Time for some celebratory How I Met Your Mother.

My car was seriously disrepected by a bird with some serious intestinal issues. I hope the car wash is open tomorrow.

I was pretty slow at work today. I just wanted to come home and bake and knit.

The neighbor to the right of me hit on me from his 3rd floor balcony while I was getting out of the car tonight. Not impressive, sorry.

AAAHHHH its early!!! [Dec. 14th, 2009|06:59 am]

[Current Mood | accomplished]

AHH its early!!!! And I've been up for almost 2 hours already! I decided this was the week to kick off my new attempt at exercising prior to work, now I know how long my hair and shower takes (and that i should add around 10 minutes on the days where I shave). Now I'm just chilling, eating and waiting for Scott's alarm to go off so I can rummage around the bedroom without waking him up. I'm sure I'm going to regret this waking up thing later on today as I am running on somewhere between 4 and 5 hours of sleep but I DON"T CARE!!! I GOT UP AND EXERCISED!!!!! Granted I'm getting annoyed because the results don't show faster but i KNOW they won't but its still annoying. grr. I'm trying to ease my way into it- i did 45 minutes at the manual level one on the elliptical cuz its been so long, and that did burn 525 calories so its nothing to sneeze at but i'm trying to get my endurance up because I want to get the EasyTone shoes but thats like running/walking on sand which requires more effort, but also hopefully will help save my knees and ankles some by providing more cushioning. So ... YAY! Now to keep this up!!!

Anyway this past weekend-- I worked friday it was awesome, processed books and created temporary records for them as well as preparing books to be returned to dealers! YAY! I really am loving this job!! and it helps that I have my own desk! YAAY!!
Saturday-- got up went to class and turned in my final book project for Rare Books, and boy did that feel good!! YAY!! after that we went down to see mommy and daddy and help them clear out some stuff from G'ma and Gagoo's as well as offering to host the xmas shenanigans this year since daddy is still recovering from his surgery and its not going as fast as he would like and they have waaaaaayyyy too much stuff, they don't have christmas up yet sooo we'll see. After that we went to see little Katie in the nutcracker it was awesome I love it!
Yesterday, Got up and went grocery shopping for dinner stuff that turned into full on grocery shopping so that we had food this week! yay food! Then we make white lasagna ( alfredo sauce, peppers, onions, fresh spinach, lots of cheese and noodles topped with tomatoes), salad, bread and a raspberry swirl cheesecake and our friend (Scott's co-worker) Sara came over and got fed! which was awesome. I also started a new project- i'm making crocheted pointsettas just because I can, and its simple and christmasy and fun.

So today I have work 9-3 and then class 4:10-6:40 (Last monday class until next semester!! YAY!) then home. Today is our group presentations for collection development and our final project, final copy is due the 17th. But i'm almost done so this week's schedule is....

Monday- exercise, work, class group presentations
Tuesday- exercise, go to MVA to get my license changed over finally
Wednesday- exercise, work
Thursday-exercise, work 9-5 , study
Friday- exercise, Scott's office xmas party, study
Saturday-exercise, Final exam for rare books

so not too bad. Today I also have to remember to take forms over to the personnel office so that I don't get a nasty e-mail asking me where my forms are (oops). ok off i go to finish getting ready for work! YAY!

This past week brought me back to the lol kolledge days, because the lack of sleeping was reCOCKulous. I AM SO TIRED. And it is my own damn fault. Oh man, I needed today off of work like whoa. It was amazing. But then again the lack of sleep was worth it this week. I banked an extra 20 hours of off time for the holidays AND managed to have many an evening of running amok as well. The good times included...

MRP kid reunions! weekend events despite work! vagina monologues are off to a great start! )

After finishing up with tonight's round of auditions, Charles and I, along with my fellow assistant director and her boy, all grabbed noms and watched this movie called Ink, which came out just last month but wasn't released in theaters. Which was stupid, because it should have been. It's indy, and I highly highly recommend it. It has a definite Pan's Labyrinth meets Neverwhere feel to it. Also, bongo-drum teleportation! dreamscape battles! whimsical costumes! The Pathfinder=teh squee-worthy! Don't want to spoil in case any of you want to check it out, but hands down the best scene is when the Pathfinder gives his "something's gotta stop the flow" speech, and does his magical beat-of-the-world conducting scene.

Aside from the fangirly gibberish, I also give this movie a surrius tip of the hat for it's unique way of playing with lighting and camera angles. Also the soundtrack and effects were surprisingly good for such a low budget film. So go check it out! I know I usually have wretched taste in movies, but this isn't a snakes-on-a-plane-good or a cloverfield-good. This is an ACTUAL good.

Trailer here!

Remember how I vowed to get back on SLEEPING AT NIGHT schedule? Yeah. Should go do that now. XD
ETA: Still in awe of being able to flush my toilet, turn on the heat, and not pack the day's clothes in moth and rat proof storage bags. Just sayin'.
ETA 2: I go home for break in exactly ONE WEEK. ONE WEEK!

WE WON WE WON WE WON [Dec. 13th, 2009|04:11 pm]

WE WON WE WON WE WON

It came down to PKs! I narrated it over the phone to Sarah.
The team completely freaked out, as did the Wahooligans (I recognized my soccer friends!).

We won!

The championship shirt is already available online. and I've bought one.

Why why do I have to be here and not in Cary?

Other fans [Dec. 13th, 2009|03:02 pm]

marinated_peach
The Akron fans who traveled down for the game are kind of jerks. They've resorted to "you suck" cheers, which is super-classy and creative. I hate that kind of shit. For the most part the Wahooligans aren't the negative type of fans, which is one of the reasons I always loved the club. They focus on cheering on our team, and less on attacking the opponents. I think that's why the athletic department and the boosters have always been so supportive of the Wahooligans.

The end of the second half is coming up and there are no goals and I am just so tense right now. I want a goal! It's getting more physical (four yellow cards so far) and they're in a bit of a stalemate. TOO INTENSE.

This is why I make a point not to care about sports.

EDIT: OVERTIME WHY

Give me the pressure [Dec. 13th, 2009|01:32 pm]

marinated_peach
I'm watching the NCAA men's soccer final on tv. The Wahooligans are there! They're sitting opposite the main cameras, so I can see the group and the club flag. They're much louder today than they were during the semi-final on Friday.

Obviously that picture's from an old home game (which I'm in, by the way, but you can only see the top of my head), but you get the idea. Here's Kathy, me, and Sarah at the quarter-final last week.

I watched the game over the phone with Sarah on Friday. I probably freaked Carmela out with my screaming when we won, which was something along the lines of "Fuck you! Fuck you, Wake Forest! Feel the agony of defeat, motherfuckers!" There was also some jumping going on.
I hope we win today! I'm almost too worried about winning to actually watch. This is not good for my productivity. I did half of my cataloging data mapping project yesterday while I watched Dexter, but I haven't made a whole lot of progress on the large paper that's due Monday night.

There's a player on the Akron team whose name sounds like "bunbury," which is part of a joke from The Importance of Being Earnest.

The Wahooligans usually choose a player from the opposite team who they pick on more than any other, most often because that player does something particularly douchey. I wonder who it will be today?

I am a weeeeeee bit drunk right now. I opened a bottle of Kluge Estate's Albemarle Savignon Blanc (2008), and it's pretty good. It's got that kick that white wine has, but it's good. I haven't really eaten a lot today, so it's hitting me fast. That, and my wine glasses are HUGE. I drink 1/4 bottle at a time.

If I have not recommended Food Network's Dressed-up Bacon Mac and Cheese, it is DELICIOUS.

I accidentally made my Christmas tree a traitor. Yesterday, I bought Tree ornaments, and I got Green and red and silver and plum colored ones. Today I was at Michaels, and they had orange ones! And I thought, "WAHOOWA!" and bought them. So I put my orange bulbs on the tree... but when you put them next to the plum ones they look like MAROON ONES. And now I have a VA TECH TREE. I need to find some dark blue bulbs STAT.

I spent a billion dollars today. Well, maybe that's the wine talking, but it felt like a billion. I'm baking a shit ton of cookies tomorrow. And I think I'm too drunk to finish this post. But not too drunk to finish this wine!

My heart hurts [Dec. 11th, 2009|05:11 pm]

I went to the basement and put my laundry in the washer. Then the elevators broke and I had to walk 17 flights of stairs to my room. Now I'm afraid to go pick up my clothes. I am NOT in good shape. I don't remember what it's like to be in good shape.

I'm going to try and do homework tonight! Go me.

New York is freezing cold and super-windy. Outside is horrible.

This is my lamest entry ever.

So far this has been a good week! I worked yesterday and it was awesome!!! I love having a big-girl job! So at work I learned how to look things up in OCLC and save the file and then how to update the file in Voyager and put the little slip in it. I think I did very well, I was able to do a whole cart which is apparently unusual when you're first being trained. I'm just hoping that I didn't make too many mistakes, I think I'll find out tomorrow because I'm pretty sure Anna reviewed my today while I wasn't there, so I should hear back tomorrow on how I did. YAY!!!!! I also finally got a computer yesterday! Granted it didn't come until I was leaving but still, I got it!! Although I did forget to take some forms into the personnel office so I'll have to do that tomorrow on my lunch break although I think Anna is taking me and the other new girl to lunch at the staff only lunch place but I'm not sure.

Today was project day. I spent the day finishing up a big paper I have due on Saturday I'm only semi-confident about it, but I think I did relatively well on it! I also worked on the group project which we are presenting in class on Monday (which is the last class) and the paper for that presentation which is due 3 days later but my group and I agree that we should get it turned in on Monday if we can. Its just irritating because I feel like I'm doing so much of the work and yes i'll admit I said I would do these things but honestly if one of my other group members did what I'm doing I would be like how about I do this part so you aren't doing everything. but NOOOOOOOOOO of course they are not doing that. But whatever, hopefully we'll get an A on it because I have a 91 in the class and I want to keep an A and if we don't get an A i'm getting a B.. stupid group work, possibly ruining my straight A's. GRRRR. Oh well 3 A's are better than none .

Tomorrow I work again, 9-5. I'm super excited except for the fact the person who has been training me isn't going to be there so I'm really not sure who I'm supposed to ask when i have questions because I really don't want to bother the other person who is in the same room as us, he seems friendly but he is also intimidating. But I'm still excited! I like having a job where I don't have to deal with stupid people all day. It is awesome.

I've also failed on the exercising front this week, as well as the eating healthy I've got the major sweet tooth this week and its awful. I really need to stop buying chocolate because if its in the house I'm going to eat it. Although I've been better about drinking water, I've also been drinking more tea. I've been trying to use less sugar, I can't leave out the sweetener because then its just too bitter for me, so i've been using truvia or splenda, or if i'm really splurging raw cane sugar (ITS SO YUMMY!). I also have been trying to be better about remembering to put lotion on so i'm not scratching at my arms and legs all day at work. I think thats really about it for now. Off I go to prep for bed and work tomorrow.
